A native of Seattle Washington, John was drawn to Asian aesthetics of China, Korea and Japan. His ceramic interests were encouraged by Robert Sperry at the University of Washington.

Working with clay offers many paths and often they converge. It’s that creative synthesis that captivates and drives him to be open, to explore and accept new challenges.

John’s current body of work is Shino glazed stoneware that is reduction fired in a Bailey gas kiln.
