PAIGE VAAL

My practice is to celebrate the primitive nature of a ceramics in today’s fast society. Manipulating a wet piece of clay into something useful, accentuating clays naturally sensuous surface, and leaving my mark to be forever captured by the violent river of fire throughout the kiln. I choose to minimally decorate pots and let the kiln atmosphere adorn the fragile ware within. Once fired, my work is intended for use in homes for daily rituals such as morning coffee or a family meal. The user is reminded that the artwork on their dining table was made by human hands and celebrates generations of craft.
