Kelley Stelling Contemporary presents its third outdoor ceramics exhibition and
fundraiser in collaboration with the NH Potters Guild at guild artist Al Jaeger’s studio
and home.
Unbricking the kiln door after a wood firing is a thrilling experience usually only seen
by potters taking part in the firing. Attendees to this exhibition are invited on site to
watch and share in the excitement as newly fired pieces are carefully removed from
the kiln. Attendees will be able to witness artist’s reactions and see first hand how
flame and ash create the rich surface variations unique to the wood-firing process.
The current kiln is about 24 years old and in need of replacement. The total
replacement cost is at least $15,000 of which $9,200 has been raised. Attendees will
also have the opportunity to ‘sponsor’ a brick that will be included in the kiln
construction for $20 per brick. This event is to raise funds and to educate collectors
and residents of this unique site and opportunity afforded to NH Potters Guild
members.
In addition to the kiln opening this event will feature socially distanced outdoor
exhibition of NH Potter’s Guild ceramic artists with 25% of sales being donated to the
new kiln project.
The artists’ reception will take place at 20 Perry Road, Deerfield, NH, Saturday,
September 17 (Rain Date, Sunday, September 18), from 11-2pm.
Suggested ticket donation: $20 pp, 100% of ticket donations will go toward the kiln
replacement. Attendees are encouraged to purchase tickets ahead of time, however a
few spaces will be available the day of on a first come first served basis. Please visit
Kelly Stelling Contemporary for ticket information.
